Midway - Strike Against the Akagi by Robert Taylor
Robert Taylor gives us a dramatic pilot's-eye view of the Japanes carrier Akagi, as an SBD Dauntless from U.S.S. Enterprise lines up his sights and prepares to deliver the coup-de-grace. We are treated to a superb study of the redoubtable SBD, with perforated dive flaps fully extended as it hurtles towards the yellow deck.
Already there is chaos aboard, however, the Akagi's guns are still in action and the air is alive with bursting shells, red hot tracer and acrid smoke. within minutes Admiral Nagumo's flagship will be reduced to a blazing shambles.
