The Mosquito truly earned it's nickname of 'The Wooden Wonder'.
Made from a combination of balsa and plywood, and powered by
two Rolls Royce Merlin engines, it was rugged and very, very
fast. The design also lent itself to adaptation, being used as
a fighter, bomber and in the photo reconnaissance role. It was
particularly well suited to pinpoint bombing attacks, and saw
action in some of the most dangerous, daring and successful raids
of the war. Truly one of the great aircraft of WWII.
