Hawker Hurricanes of 249 Squadron carry out a head-on attack against a large formation of Dornier 17 bombers of KG3 as the Battle of Britain reaches its critical phase in mid-September 1940.
This painting is roughly based upon the events of 15th September when 249 Squadron intercepted some of the large formations of Dorniers over the Thames Estuary. V7313 GN-F was a favourite aircraft of legendary Battle of Britain ace Tom Neil who shot down two on the day.
