On November 21, 1944, the 8th Air Force launched 995 B-17
Flying Fortresses and 366 B-24 Liberators to attack the petroleum
facilities near Merseburg, Germany. After releasing their bombs
over the target, two B-17Gs from the 91st BG, Nine-O-Nine
and Outhouse Mouse, are seen flying over the Dutch
coastline as they head back towards their base at Bassingbourn,
England. Escorting the two bombers are three P-51 Mustang Aces
from the 352nd Fighter Group;
George Preddy in Cripes A Mighty, John C Meyers
in Petie 3rd, and
Bill Whisner in Moonbeam McSwine.
Signed by 13 pilots and aircrew from the 352nd FG and 91st BG,
including 352nd Fighter Group Aces; Donald Bryan and Alden Rigby. |
