Early on the morning of 2nd. August 1944, Erich Sommer took
off from Juvincourt airfield, near Reims, France. Flying his
Arado Blitz he was undertaking the world's first jet reconnaissance
mission, in this instance he would be photographing the Allied
advance from the Normandy Beaches.
